Common Recipe for Hawaiian pizza

Ingredients:

  • 1 pre-made pizza dough (about 12 inches in diameter)
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) tomato pizza sauce
  • 2 cups (200g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 8 ounces (225g) cooked ham, sliced into small squares
  • 1 cup (165g) pineapple chunks, drained
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon (1g) dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1g) crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)
  • Cornmeal, for dusting the baking sheet

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat as well.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to a 12-inch circle. If using a baking sheet, dust it with cornmeal to prevent sticking.
  3. Transfer the rolled-out dough onto the prepared baking sheet or a pizza peel if using a pizza stone.
  4. Spread the tomato pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges for the crust.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, ensuring even coverage.
  6. Distribute the ham slices and pineapple chunks evenly over the cheese layer.
  7. Drizzle the olive oil over the toppings, then sprinkle with dried oregano and crushed red pepper flakes if using.
  8. Carefully transfer the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, and garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Slice and serve warm.

Notes:

For a crispier crust, bake the pizza directly on a preheated pizza stone. If you prefer a sweeter taste, use fresh pineapple instead of canned. Leftover pizza can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven for best results.
