Common Recipe for Hawaiian pizza
Ingredients:
- 1 pre-made pizza dough (about 12 inches in diameter)
- 1/2 cup (120ml) tomato pizza sauce
- 2 cups (200g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- 8 ounces (225g) cooked ham, sliced into small squares
- 1 cup (165g) pineapple chunks, drained
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon (1g) dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon (1g) crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)
- Cornmeal, for dusting the baking sheet
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat as well.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to a 12-inch circle. If using a baking sheet, dust it with cornmeal to prevent sticking.
- Transfer the rolled-out dough onto the prepared baking sheet or a pizza peel if using a pizza stone.
- Spread the tomato pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges for the crust.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, ensuring even coverage.
- Distribute the ham slices and pineapple chunks evenly over the cheese layer.
- Drizzle the olive oil over the toppings, then sprinkle with dried oregano and crushed red pepper flakes if using.
- Carefully transfer the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, and garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Slice and serve warm.
Notes:
For a crispier crust, bake the pizza directly on a preheated pizza stone. If you prefer a sweeter taste, use fresh pineapple instead of canned. Leftover pizza can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven for best results.
