Common Recipe for balsamic glazed salmon
Ingredients:
- 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces/170g each)
- 1/2 cup (120ml) balsamic vinegar
- 1/4 cup (60ml) honey
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) soy sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon (15g) fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 lemon, sliced
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease with olive oil.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine balsamic vinegar, honey, soy sauce, and minced garlic. Bring to a simmer, reduce heat to low, and let it reduce for about 10-15 minutes until it thickens slightly, stirring occasionally.
- While the glaze is reducing, season the salmon fillets with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, sear salmon fillets, skin-side up, for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Flip and sear the other side for another 2 minutes.
- Transfer the seared salmon fillets to the prepared baking sheet. Brush each fillet generously with the balsamic glaze.
- Place a lemon slice on top of each fillet and sprinkle with fresh rosemary.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
- Remove from oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve with additional glaze drizzled over the top and pair with roasted vegetables or steamed rice.
Notes:
For a deeper flavor, marinate the salmon in the glaze for 30 minutes before cooking. The glaze can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to a week. This dish pairs wonderfully with a side of asparagus or quinoa. Ensure not to overcook the salmon to maintain its tenderness.
