Pumpkin pie

A classic American dessert featuring a spiced pumpkin custard filling in a flaky pie crust, often served during fall and holiday seasons.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine pumpkin puree, evaporated milk, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix well until smooth.
  3. Add cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, salt, and cloves to the pumpkin mixture. Stir until all spices are evenly distributed.
  4. Pour the pumpkin filling into the unbaked pie crust. Smooth the top with a spatula.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
  6. Reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for an additional 35-40 minutes, or until the center is set and a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
  7. Remove pie from oven and let cool on a wire rack for at least 2 hours. This allows the filling to set properly.
  8. Refrigerate if not serving immediately. The pie can be served chilled or at room temperature.
  9. Optionally, serve with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
