Pumpkin pie
A classic American dessert featuring a spiced pumpkin custard filling in a flaky pie crust, often served during fall and holiday seasons.
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine pumpkin puree, evaporated milk, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix well until smooth.
- Add cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, salt, and cloves to the pumpkin mixture. Stir until all spices are evenly distributed.
- Pour the pumpkin filling into the unbaked pie crust. Smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
- Reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for an additional 35-40 minutes, or until the center is set and a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
- Remove pie from oven and let cool on a wire rack for at least 2 hours. This allows the filling to set properly.
- Refrigerate if not serving immediately. The pie can be served chilled or at room temperature.
- Optionally, serve with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
