Butter Tarts

A small pastry filled with a buttery, sugary, and syrupy filling.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the tart shells on a baking sheet and set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition until fully incorporated.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract, vinegar, and corn syrup, mixing until smooth and well combined.
  5. Add the salt and stir until the filling is uniform. If using raisins, divide them evenly among the tart shells.
  6. Pour the filling mixture into each tart shell, filling them about 2/3 full to prevent overflow during baking.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the filling is set and the pastry is golden brown.
  8. Remove the tarts from the oven and allow them to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
  9. Transfer the tarts to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
