Mozzarella sticks

Mozzarella sticks are breaded and deep-fried cheese sticks, typically served with marinara sauce for dipping.

Instructions

  1. Cut the mozzarella sticks in half if they are long, ensuring you have even pieces to work with.
  2. Prepare a breading station with three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs and milk, and the last with breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dredge each mozzarella stick in flour, shaking off excess. Then dip it into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Finally, coat it well with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  4. Place the breaded sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for at least 1 hour. This helps prevent the cheese from melting too quickly during frying.
  5. In a deep pan or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Ensure you have enough oil to fully submerge the mozzarella sticks.
  6. Carefully lower a few sticks at a time into the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove the sticks with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  8. Serve hot with warmed marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
