Oatmeal porridge

A warm and creamy dish made from oats simmered in water or milk, often served with toppings like fruits, nuts, or sweeteners.

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring the water or milk and salt to a gentle boil over medium heat.
  2. Stir in the rolled oats, then reduce the heat to low. Simmer the oats, stirring occasionally, for about 5-7 minutes or until the mixture thickens and the oats are tender.
  3. Add the brown sugar or honey, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract (if using). Stir well to combine.
  4. If you prefer a creamier texture, stir in the heavy cream or milk and butter until fully incorporated.
  5. Remove the pan from heat and let the porridge rest for a minute to thicken further.
  6. Divide the porridge into serving bowls.
  7. Top each serving with your choice of fresh or dried fruits and chopped nuts.
  8. Serve warm, with additional milk or cream on the side if desired.
