Millet porridge
A hearty porridge made from millet, often cooked with water or milk, and sometimes sweetened with honey, fruits, or spices for a nutritious and comforting dish.
Instructions
- Rinse the millet under cold water to remove any impurities and drain well.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed millet, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the millet is tender and most of the water is absorbed.
- Add the milk, honey, and cinnamon to the saucepan. Stir well to combine.
- Continue to cook on low heat for another 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until the porridge reaches your desired consistency.
- Stir in the raisins and nuts, allowing them to heat through for about 2 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the butter or coconut oil until melted and well combined.
- Serve the millet porridge warm, topped with fresh fruit slices if desired.
