Millet porridge

A hearty porridge made from millet, often cooked with water or milk, and sometimes sweetened with honey, fruits, or spices for a nutritious and comforting dish.

Instructions

  1. Rinse the millet under cold water to remove any impurities and drain well.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed millet, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the millet is tender and most of the water is absorbed.
  4. Add the milk, honey, and cinnamon to the saucepan. Stir well to combine.
  5. Continue to cook on low heat for another 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until the porridge reaches your desired consistency.
  6. Stir in the raisins and nuts, allowing them to heat through for about 2 minutes.
  7. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the butter or coconut oil until melted and well combined.
  8. Serve the millet porridge warm, topped with fresh fruit slices if desired.
