Caprese salad

A simple Italian salad made with fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, basil, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar.

Instructions

  1. Arrange the tomato slices on a large platter, slightly overlapping them in a circular pattern.
  2. Place the mozzarella slices in between the tomato slices, ensuring each mozzarella slice is paired with a tomato slice.
  3. Tuck fresh basil leaves between the layers of tomato and mozzarella, distributing them evenly across the platter.
  4. Drizzle the olive oil evenly over the tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil.
  5. Drizzle balsamic vinegar over the salad, allowing it to fall in thin streams across the surface.
  6. Sprinkle sea salt and freshly ground black pepper over the salad to taste.
  7. For a finishing touch, sprinkle a pinch of flaked sea salt over the top for added texture and flavor, if desired.
  8. Serve immediately at room temperature for optimal flavor.
