Banana bread
A moist and sweet quick bread made with ripe bananas, often flavored with cinnamon or nuts.
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix together the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, and stir until just combined.
- Fold in the mashed bananas until evenly distributed. If using, gently fold in the chopped nuts.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then remove it from the pan and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice and serve once cooled, or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
