Burritos
A Mexican dish consisting of a flour tortilla filled with ingredients such as beans, rice, meat, cheese, and vegetables, often rolled and served warm.
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef or chicken, cumin, chili powder, and salt. Cook until the meat is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the cooked meat from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add the black beans and cooked rice, stirring until heated through, about 3 minutes.
- Warm the flour tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave for a few seconds to make them pliable.
- To assemble the burritos, place each tortilla on a flat surface. In the center of each tortilla, layer a portion of the meat, rice and bean mixture, a spoonful of salsa, and a sprinkle of shredded cheese.
- Fold the sides of the tortilla over the filling, then roll it up from the bottom to the top, ensuring the filling is tightly enclosed.
- If desired, place the rolled burritos seam-side down in the skillet and cook over medium heat for 1-2 minutes on each side to crisp the exterior.
- Serve the burritos warm, topped with sour cream, fresh cilantro, and avocado slices.
