Burritos

A Mexican dish consisting of a flour tortilla filled with ingredients such as beans, rice, meat, cheese, and vegetables, often rolled and served warm.

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef or chicken, cumin, chili powder, and salt. Cook until the meat is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Remove the cooked meat from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add the black beans and cooked rice, stirring until heated through, about 3 minutes.
  3. Warm the flour tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave for a few seconds to make them pliable.
  4. To assemble the burritos, place each tortilla on a flat surface. In the center of each tortilla, layer a portion of the meat, rice and bean mixture, a spoonful of salsa, and a sprinkle of shredded cheese.
  5. Fold the sides of the tortilla over the filling, then roll it up from the bottom to the top, ensuring the filling is tightly enclosed.
  6. If desired, place the rolled burritos seam-side down in the skillet and cook over medium heat for 1-2 minutes on each side to crisp the exterior.
  7. Serve the burritos warm, topped with sour cream, fresh cilantro, and avocado slices.
