Tzatziki
A creamy Greek dip made with yogurt, cucumber, garlic, olive oil, and fresh herbs like dill or mint.
Instructions
- Grate the cucumber and place it in a fine mesh strainer. Sprinkle with a pinch of salt and let it sit for about 10 minutes to draw out excess moisture.
- Use your hands or a clean kitchen towel to squeeze out as much liquid as possible from the grated cucumber.
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, dill, mint, salt, and black pepper.
- Stir the mixture until all the ingredients are well incorporated. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary, adding more salt or lemon juice to taste.
- If desired, stir in the red wine vinegar for an extra tangy flavor.
- Transfer the tzatziki to a serving bowl, cover, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.
- Before serving, drizzle with a little extra olive oil and garnish with additional dill or mint if desired.
- Serve chilled as a dip with pita bread, as a sauce for grilled meats, or as a condiment in wraps and sandwiches.
