Suya
Spiced grilled meat skewers served with a peanut dipping sauce.
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground peanuts, ginger, cayenne pepper, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and white pepper to create the suya spice mix.
- Add the beef cubes to the bowl and toss them thoroughly in the spice mix, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Let the beef marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator for maximum flavor.
- Preheat your grill or broiler to medium-high heat. If using a grill, lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
- Thread the marinated beef cubes onto the soaked wooden skewers, leaving a small gap between each piece for even cooking.
- Brush the skewered beef with vegetable oil to help keep the meat moist during grilling.
- Place the skewers on the grill or under the broiler. Cook for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until the beef is cooked through and has a nice char on the edges.
- Remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve the suya with a simple peanut dipping sauce or additional suya spice mix on the side.
