Sesame Chicken

A Chinese-American dish featuring crispy fried chicken coated in a sweet and savory sauce with sesame seeds.

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine cornstarch, flour, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
  3. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or wok over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  4. Fry the chicken pieces in batches, without overcrowding, for 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. In a separate saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  6. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  7. Add the fried chicken pieces to the sauce and toss to coat evenly.
  8. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.
