Pecan pie

A classic Southern dessert featuring a rich, buttery filling made with pecans, eggs, sugar, and corn syrup in a flaky pie crust.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, light corn syrup, and melted butter until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, whisking well after each addition to ensure they are fully incorporated.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract, salt, and bourbon or dark rum, if using.
  5. Arrange the pecan halves evenly in the unbaked pie crust.
  6. Pour the egg and sugar mixture over the pecans, ensuring they are all coated and evenly spread.
  7. Place the pie on a baking sheet to catch any drips, and bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until the center is set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the pie cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
