Pecan pie
A classic Southern dessert featuring a rich, buttery filling made with pecans, eggs, sugar, and corn syrup in a flaky pie crust.
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, light corn syrup, and melted butter until smooth.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, whisking well after each addition to ensure they are fully incorporated.
- Stir in the vanilla extract, salt, and bourbon or dark rum, if using.
- Arrange the pecan halves evenly in the unbaked pie crust.
- Pour the egg and sugar mixture over the pecans, ensuring they are all coated and evenly spread.
- Place the pie on a baking sheet to catch any drips, and bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until the center is set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let the pie cool completely on a wire rack before serving.
