Nasi Goreng

A flavorful fried rice dish with sweet soy sauce, vegetables, and optional meat or seafood.

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic, chopped onion, and sliced chili, sauté until fragrant and the onion becomes translucent.
  3. Add the chicken or shrimp and cook until it changes color and is cooked through.
  4. Push the cooked ingredients to one side of the pan, add a little more oil if needed, and pour in the beaten eggs. Scramble the eggs until they are just set.
  5. Add the mixed vegetables to the pan and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until just tender.
  6. Add the cooked rice to the pan, breaking up any clumps with a spoon or spatula.
  7. Pour in the kecap manis and soy sauce, and sprinkle with ground white pepper. Stir well to combine all ingredients, ensuring the rice is evenly coated with the sauces.
  8. Continue to stir-fry for another 3-5 minutes until the rice is heated through and slightly crispy.
  9. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped spring onions.
  10. Serve hot, garnished with fried shallots.
