lettuce wraps
A dish where crisp lettuce leaves are used as a wrap to hold fillings such as seasoned meats, vegetables, and sauces, offering a fresh and low-carb alternative to traditional wraps.
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground pork, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Mix well and set aside to marinate for 15 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add garlic and ginger, sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add marinated pork to the skillet. Cook, breaking apart with a spatula, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in water chestnuts and shiitake mushrooms. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the mushrooms are tender and the mixture is well combined.
- Add green onions and toss to incorporate. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Remove the skillet from heat. Transfer the pork mixture to a serving bowl.
- To serve, spoon a portion of the pork mixture onto each lettuce leaf. Top with chopped peanuts for added crunch.
- Wrap the lettuce around the filling and enjoy your lettuce wrap.
