Garlic chicken

A flavorful dish featuring chicken cooked with garlic, often enhanced with herbs, spices, and a savory sauce.

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, oyster sauce, sugar, and ground white pepper. Stir until sugar is dissolved to create a marinade.
  2. Add chicken pieces to the marinade, mixing well to coat evenly. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes at room temperature or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  4. Add minced garlic to the pan and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  5. Add marinated chicken to the pan, spreading it out in a single layer. Cook without stirring for 3-4 minutes to allow it to brown.
  6. Stir the chicken and continue to cook for another 5-6 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and has absorbed the marinade.
  7. Add sliced green onions to the pan and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, until they are slightly wilted.
  8. Transfer the garlic chicken to a serving platter and garnish with toasted sesame seeds.
  9. Serve hot, ideally with steamed rice or fried rice.
