Garlic chicken
A flavorful dish featuring chicken cooked with garlic, often enhanced with herbs, spices, and a savory sauce.
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, oyster sauce, sugar, and ground white pepper. Stir until sugar is dissolved to create a marinade.
- Add chicken pieces to the marinade, mixing well to coat evenly. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes at room temperature or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Add minced garlic to the pan and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Add marinated chicken to the pan, spreading it out in a single layer. Cook without stirring for 3-4 minutes to allow it to brown.
- Stir the chicken and continue to cook for another 5-6 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and has absorbed the marinade.
- Add sliced green onions to the pan and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, until they are slightly wilted.
- Transfer the garlic chicken to a serving platter and garnish with toasted sesame seeds.
- Serve hot, ideally with steamed rice or fried rice.
