Cream cheese frosting
A rich and creamy frosting made with cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla, perfect for cakes, cupcakes, and other desserts.
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together using an electric mixer on medium speed until the mixture is smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, about 1 cup at a time, beating on low speed after each addition until the sugar is fully incorporated.
- Once all the sugar has been added, increase the mixer speed to medium and beat for another 2 minutes, until the frosting is smooth and fluffy.
- Add the vanilla extract and salt to the bowl, and beat on medium speed until well combined.
- If the frosting is too thick, add the heavy cream or milk, 1 teaspoon at a time, beating after each addition, until the desired consistency is reached.
- Taste the frosting and adjust the sweetness or saltiness as needed by adding more powdered sugar or a small pinch of salt.
- Continue to beat the frosting on high speed for an additional 1-2 minutes to ensure it is light and airy.
- Use the cream cheese frosting immediately to frost cakes, cupcakes, or other desserts, or cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
