Cream cheese frosting

A rich and creamy frosting made with cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla, perfect for cakes, cupcakes, and other desserts.

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together using an electric mixer on medium speed until the mixture is smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, about 1 cup at a time, beating on low speed after each addition until the sugar is fully incorporated.
  3. Once all the sugar has been added, increase the mixer speed to medium and beat for another 2 minutes, until the frosting is smooth and fluffy.
  4. Add the vanilla extract and salt to the bowl, and beat on medium speed until well combined.
  5. If the frosting is too thick, add the heavy cream or milk, 1 teaspoon at a time, beating after each addition, until the desired consistency is reached.
  6. Taste the frosting and adjust the sweetness or saltiness as needed by adding more powdered sugar or a small pinch of salt.
  7. Continue to beat the frosting on high speed for an additional 1-2 minutes to ensure it is light and airy.
  8. Use the cream cheese frosting immediately to frost cakes, cupcakes, or other desserts, or cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
