Sandwich

A versatile dish consisting of two slices of bread or a roll filled with various ingredients such as meats, cheeses, vegetables, spreads, and condiments.

Instructions

  1. Spread the softened butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
  2. Place the bread slices buttered side down on a clean work surface.
  3. Spread a thin layer of English mustard on the unbuttered side of each slice.
  4. Layer the ham evenly on top of the mustard on one slice of bread.
  5. Add the cheddar cheese slices over the ham.
  6. Arrange the tomato slices on top of the cheese, followed by the romaine lettuce leaves.
  7. Scatter the red onion slices over the lettuce and season with salt and pepper.
  8. Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side facing up.
  9. Gently press the sandwich together and cut it in half diagonally with a sharp knife.
  10. Serve immediately or wrap in parchment paper for a packed lunch.
