Cheeseburger
A classic American sandwich consisting of a ground beef patty, melted cheese, lettuce, tomato, and condiments, served in a bun.
Instructions
- Divide the ground beef into four equal portions, approximately 4 ounces (113g) each. Gently shape each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch (2cm) thick.
- Season both sides of each beef patty with salt and black pepper.
- Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil.
- Once the oil is hot, place the beef patties in the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on the first side until a crust forms.
- Flip the patties and place a slice of American cheese on top of each one. Cover the skillet with a lid or foil to melt the cheese, cooking for another 3-4 minutes for medium doneness.
- While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the hamburger buns in a separate pan or under the broiler for about 1-2 minutes until golden.
- Assemble the cheeseburgers by spreading mayonnaise on the bottom bun, followed by the lettuce leaf, the cooked beef patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, and then topping with ketchup and mustard as desired.
- Place the top bun on each burger. Repeat for the remaining burgers.
- Serve immediately while hot, alongside your favorite sides such as fries or a salad.
