Cheeseburger

A classic American sandwich consisting of a ground beef patty, melted cheese, lettuce, tomato, and condiments, served in a bun.

Instructions

  1. Divide the ground beef into four equal portions, approximately 4 ounces (113g) each. Gently shape each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch (2cm) thick.
  2. Season both sides of each beef patty with salt and black pepper.
  3. Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil.
  4. Once the oil is hot, place the beef patties in the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on the first side until a crust forms.
  5. Flip the patties and place a slice of American cheese on top of each one. Cover the skillet with a lid or foil to melt the cheese, cooking for another 3-4 minutes for medium doneness.
  6. While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the hamburger buns in a separate pan or under the broiler for about 1-2 minutes until golden.
  7. Assemble the cheeseburgers by spreading mayonnaise on the bottom bun, followed by the lettuce leaf, the cooked beef patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, and then topping with ketchup and mustard as desired.
  8. Place the top bun on each burger. Repeat for the remaining burgers.
  9. Serve immediately while hot, alongside your favorite sides such as fries or a salad.
