Peanut butter cookies
A classic American cookie made with peanut butter, sugar, and flour, known for its rich, nutty flavor and signature crisscross pattern on top.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the peanut butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and softened butter until smooth and well combined.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture and beat until fully incorporated.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough and roll them into balls. If desired, roll each ball in additional granulated sugar before placing them on the prepared baking sheets, spaced about 2 inches apart.
- Flatten each ball slightly using a fork, creating a crisscross pattern on top of each cookie.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers may look slightly undercooked, but they will firm up as they cool.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
