Ramen
A Japanese noodle soup consisting of wheat noodles served in a flavorful broth, often topped with ingredients like sliced pork, soft-boiled eggs, seaweed, and green onions.
Instructions
- Bring a pot of water to a boil over medium-high heat. Carefully add the eggs and boil for 7 minutes for a soft-boiled texture. Remove and immediately place in an ice bath to cool. Once cooled, peel and set aside.
- In a separate pot, heat the chicken or pork broth over medium heat. Add soy sauce, mirin, sake, and miso paste. Stir until the miso is fully dissolved. Simmer on low heat.
- In a frying pan, heat sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add the pork belly slices and cook until browned and crispy on both sides. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Bring another pot of water to boil. Add the ramen noodles and cook according to package instructions (usually about 3-4 minutes), until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- To assemble, divide the noodles into two bowls. Pour the hot broth over the noodles. Top each bowl with slices of pork belly, a soft-boiled egg (sliced in half), nori strips, and green onions.
- Serve immediately, allowing diners to mix their ingredients into the broth as they eat.
