Ramen

A Japanese noodle soup consisting of wheat noodles served in a flavorful broth, often topped with ingredients like sliced pork, soft-boiled eggs, seaweed, and green onions.

Instructions

  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil over medium-high heat. Carefully add the eggs and boil for 7 minutes for a soft-boiled texture. Remove and immediately place in an ice bath to cool. Once cooled, peel and set aside.
  2. In a separate pot, heat the chicken or pork broth over medium heat. Add soy sauce, mirin, sake, and miso paste. Stir until the miso is fully dissolved. Simmer on low heat.
  3. In a frying pan, heat sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add the pork belly slices and cook until browned and crispy on both sides. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Bring another pot of water to boil. Add the ramen noodles and cook according to package instructions (usually about 3-4 minutes), until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  5. To assemble, divide the noodles into two bowls. Pour the hot broth over the noodles. Top each bowl with slices of pork belly, a soft-boiled egg (sliced in half), nori strips, and green onions.
  6. Serve immediately, allowing diners to mix their ingredients into the broth as they eat.
