Maple bacon donuts
A sweet and savory treat featuring a fluffy donut topped with maple glaze and crispy bacon pieces.
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange bacon slices in a single layer and bake until crispy, about 15-20 minutes. Remove from oven, drain on paper towels, and crumble once cooled.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Grease a donut pan and fill each cavity about 2/3 full with the batter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the donuts are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- While the donuts are baking, prepare the glaze. In a small saucepan over medium heat, warm the maple syrup. Once warm, remove from heat and whisk in the powdered sugar until smooth.
- Once the donuts have cooled slightly, dip each donut top into the maple glaze and place on a wire rack set over a baking sheet to catch any drips.
- Sprinkle the crumbled bacon over the glazed donuts while the glaze is still wet to ensure it adheres.
- Allow the glaze to set for about 10 minutes before serving.
