Bagels with cream cheese
A classic breakfast or snack featuring a round, chewy bagel sliced in half and generously spread with creamy, tangy cream cheese.
Instructions
- Slice each bagel in half horizontally and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and whole milk. Stir until smooth and creamy.
- Add the chopped chives, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to the cream cheese mixture. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Taste the cream cheese mixture and adjust seasoning if necessary.
- Spread a generous amount of the seasoned cream cheese onto the cut side of each bagel half.
- If using, place a slice of smoked salmon on top of the cream cheese.
- Top with a few slices of red onion, if desired.
- Serve immediately for the freshest taste, or wrap tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 2 hours before serving.
